Recognize these people? This vehicle?

Watch the news video starting about 1:15 for the surveillance video shown.
  • Do you know who the man with a child is?
  • Do you know who owns the Honda Ridgeline?
  • Do you know who the guy in the blue plaid shirt is?

Do you know where your dog is?

A large black dog is roaming loose through the neighborhood of W Oak around S 5th & 6th. I don't know dog breeds but it looked sort of like a Newfoundland - big black dog with a heavy coat.

Comix stashed around town

Found some Steve Willis art in town? Feel free to let him know.

Assorted Updates

  • We protected the hollow of  Wild Baby Bunnies for about a week, greatly puzzling  and frustrating our four cats. We know that two baby rabbits didn't make it, hopefully the rest did. Signs of rabbit activity are seen elsewhere in the yard and neighborhood. Once again the four cats can roam the yard freely.

Who lived in your house - in 1940?

The 1940 census is now publically available for free. Indexers are working on indexing and making it easily searchable. So for now we can't yet search by names, but we can look over census records of our locations.

Look over this portion of the 1940 census map. Up in the right hand map area you'll see McCleary. A square is drawn around our area on the map and within are two numbers - 14-73 and 14-74.

Those numbers are our enumeration district numbers for 1940 census. (If you live outside this area you can still use this guide: look over the census maps to discover what your enumeration district was, then look through the actual census for that district.)

14-74

You can page through the census schedules, get a sense of what part of town you are looking at, and then find your own address - or at least close. Street names are written along the left side of each census form.

In 1940, who lived where you live now?
