Fire Dist. 12 EMS service cease
McCLEARY — District 12 residents of some 900 rural McCleary households and visitors in the area who call 911 for medical help won’t receive it.
Subsequent to the district’s citizens having rejected an emergency medical services levy in November’s general election, the district’s three commissioners officially determined at their Dec. 13 meeting that the district’s contract with Fire District 5 for emergency medical services must die at the end of 2012.
Beginning Jan. 1, District 5 “will not be dispatched to any type of EMS calls in District 12, which includes a portion of Highway 8,” Dan Prater, Fire District 5 chief, said.
