Living with Unsolved Mystery

Here are some coping skills that are working for me in the face of our community unsolved mystery - the disappearance of Lindsey Baum:
  • I cooperate fully with law enforcement and encourage others to do the same. This way I know I am doing the best I can. Tips all need to be passed on to the authorities, then we can let them do their job, we never know what piece of information could be a valuable piece of the overall puzzle.
  • I help keep her story alive in the public. Lots of folks don't know about this case.
  • I know the authorities are working diligently and I pass this fact on.
  • I take good care of myself. I personally have to steer clear of violent television shows and movies. I find healthy distractions. I keep hope alive - some day some way we will know. Where is Lindsey Baum?

Today

Montesano, WA - Search warrants served in Grays Harbor County this morning related to an ongoing Drug Enforcement Agency investigation. County Undersheriff Rick Scott confirmed that the Grays Harbor Drug Task Force and Sheriff's Office assisted DEA agents in serving two search warrants, one in West county and another in East county, as part of an interstate investigation. Scott said today's activity was in no way related to yesterday's missing persons investigation in McCleary.

Beautiful Autumn Day

Warm and sunny, gorgeous weather today. On my walk around town I saw city hydrants being flushed, residents doing various home repairs, and plenty of clear blue sky.

I know the weather will change soon enough so I'm grateful for the sun while we have it.

Another thing I am grateful for is everyone working so diligently on finding Lindsey Baum

Simpson Door Plant draft Air Operating Permit

The Olympic Region Clean Air Agency (ORCAA) firmly believes in its motto, “Clean Air is Everyone’s Business.” As such, ORCAA seeks to keep everyone within our jurisdiction well informed about the actions¬—and proposed actions—we take.

Public comment is currently being accepted on a draft Air Operating Permit (AOP) renewal for for Simpson Door Company located in McCleary, Washington, pursuant to Title V of the federal Clean Air Act and Chapter 173-401 of the Washington Administrative Code. This is a draft of the AOP renewal that will be in effect for five years.

Simpson Door’s manufacturing facility in McCleary requires an AOP because it has the potential to emit over 100 tons per year of particulate air pollution. This will be the 2nd renewal of the AOP for Simpson Door.

Copies of the draft AOP Renewal and the associated Technical Support Document (TSD) for Simpson are on file and available for review at the McCleary Library at 121 South 4th Street in McCleary, and at ORCAA’s office in Olympia. The draft AOP and TSD are also available online at www.orcaa.org.

Comments may be submitted to ORCAA in writing. Written comments should be addressed to: ORCAA, 2940-B Limited Lane NW, Olympia, WA 98502, and will be accepted up to close of business on Monday, Nov. 10, 2011. Comments should pertain to adequacy of the draft AOP in assuring compliance with applicable air quality regulations and standards.

Any concerned party may request a public hearing within the specified public comment period. The request should include information to justify the need for a public hearing. If there is significant public interest, ORCAA will hold a public hearing.

Year in McCleary

I like it here.

I appreciate the peace and quiet.  I can hear songbirds and the hum of the Simpson Door plant. The sound of songbirds lifts my spirits and the sound of the door plant means jobs.

I'm impressed with everyone who works so hard to keep the city going.

I admire the casual courtesy shown here: people open doors for one another, businesses work to be friendly and helpful.

We have great air quality and good enough water. The drive to and from Olympia/I-5 is beautiful. Grays Harbor Transit helps keep us transported.

McCleary is a comfortable town for strolling around, dress weather appropriate and you are all set. I love seeing people out for runs and walks.

I like that we all remain aware of the need to solve Lindsey Baum's disappearance and that dedicated, skilled investigators continue their work.
