Now that it’s dark during the morning and evening commutes for most drivers, it’s even more important to pay extra attention to avoid collisions with animals. Here are a few tips to help your stay safe while you’re driving:
Be cautious in early morning and evening hours, the most active time for wildlife.
Pay attention to animal crossing signs. They’re there because collisions have occurred at those locations in the past.
If you see an animal in the road DO NOT swerve to avoid it. If you swerve, you have a greater chance of leaving the roadway and striking a fixed object or another vehicle.
