This has been an unusually cold spring season. Now it is June 2nd and I still haven't been able to shut the house heat off for more than a few hours. But we here in this region know our rain and our cold - we are hardy souls. Life continues.
Even in this rain, maybe because of rain, McCleary has its own beauty. Colorful rhodies are finally blooming. Lilacs too. Lush green of new growth is everywhere.
This holiday weekend I wandered around town with a friend and the wonderful smell of barbecue was everywhere. Someone out there has a great garlicky recipe I want to get, or maybe I just want to dine on the result. It was heart warming to see all the families out playing and enjoying.
I treated myself to breakfast out this morning at the Rain Country restaurant. I really like the place. It is always a good sign when a local restaurant has regulars, customers that eat there often, maybe even meeting daily with friends for coffee.
And now there is just a wee bit of clearing in the sky with a promise of possible sun. Imagine that. Might be time to open up our doors and get out into the warmth while we can.
Hope you all are having a great Thursday.
