My guess is that the pond referred to might be one located on the other side of SR8, but that is just a guess.

Update: Search was done in pond area behind Simpson Door plant (info via websleuths.com )
The pond behind Simpson's door plant is known by oldtimers as "The Pig Lot." In the old days hotel owner John Wesley Porter kept pigs there as a food supply for his guests.
